1. How to Enter Date and change its format?

To Enter date in Excel you can use Slash or hyphen to separate parts. For example, 3-3-2014 or 3/3/14, excel will recognize as Date.

You can change the format of Date.

1. Select the cell for which you want to change the format.

2. Press Ctrl+1 or Right click on cell->Format cells-> Select Category as Date

3. Pick the Date format type and check in preview format. click OK

2. How to extract day, month or year from given date?

Function Day(), Month() and Year() is used to get days, months and years from given date respectively.

DAY Function: It is used to extract day from the given date.

=DAY(cell_address)

Example:

MONTH Function:It is used to extract month from the given date.

=MONTH(cell_address)

Example:

month

YEAR Function: It is used to extract year from the given date.

=YEAR(cell_address)

Example:

year

3. How to add days , months and years in excel?

Adding days =start_date+number of days

Example:

Adding months and years = DATE(YEAR(start_date)+add_year,MONTH(start_date)+add_month,DAY(start_ date)+add_day)

How to get current date and Time in excel?

The two functions most commonly used are:

=TODAY() and =NOW()- Today() function gives today's date and Now() gives current date and time.

Current time: Press CTRL+SHIFT+ : (SEMICOLON)
